Can you tell us a bit of your art background prior to VANAS?

I studied graphic and fashion design. I participate in several fashion shows in Costa Rica, and I won a couple of fashion contest. I also worked on comics.

Can you tell us a bit of your art background prior to VANAS?

To be honest, I didn 't have a strong art experience. The only classes I took beforehand were in high school and in college (the latter was only for a year). Otherwise I was self-taught myself, often with tutorials I found online. Art was a hobby that I didn 't take seriously enough until I was older and realized that it was the career field I wanted to get into.

Can you tell us a bit of your art background prior to VANAS?

Telling stories in all formats I can has been a passion for me since childhood. I wrote my first feature length screenplay when I was only 16. Writing for film continued into my early 20's, but I never attempted to distribute my work. I only wrote for the love of writing. It wasn't until my 30's, when I finally mustered the courage to chase my dreams. I bid a fond farewell to a 10 year career in the Canadian Navy, attended VANAS for the Concept Art Program, and moved to Vancouver, B.C. where I found work as a Production Assistant with Nerd Corps Entertainment. It was there that I discovered my love for cartoons and animation, and when life forced me back to Victoria, I resolved to return to VANAS for the Writing for Animation program and pursue a career doing what I was meant to: telling the story.
